NetSuite for Food and Beverage Manufacturers
TechCloudPro implements NetSuite for food and beverage businesses: lot traceability, shelf life driven allocation, catch weight, co packing and a recall trace that stands up.
In short
Food and beverage builds are won or lost on lot traceability, shelf life and yield. Every lot has to carry its source, its expiry and where it went, from the first transaction onward. You cannot rebuild that record afterwards. Most of the build can improve over time. That part cannot.
Where the lot chain usually breaks
- A trace from one ingredient lot to every affected customer takes days rather than minutes.
- Short dated stock collects at the back of the warehouse and is written off.
- Deliveries are rejected because remaining shelf life was checked at the bay rather than at allocation.
- Actual yield is never recorded, so ingredient stock drifts and unit cost reads low.
- Product made by a co packer breaks the lot chain exactly where the risk sits.
How a food and beverage build is approached
A lot chain that can be queried in both directions
Receipt captures the supplier lot rather than generating a new one, and production records which ingredient lots were consumed. That link is what lets you trace forward from an ingredient to customers and backward from a complaint to a supplier.
Shelf life that drives allocation, not just reporting
First expiry first out is applied by the system at allocation, with an override that needs a reason and leaves a record. Minimum remaining shelf life is held against the customer and checked before the pallet is built.
Holds that actually stop movement
A hold applies at lot level, blocks allocation and picking in every location at once including third party sites, and can be applied by the person who first knows there is a problem rather than through a request queue.
Catch weight decided at design time
Where product is sold by weight and handled by unit, catch weight touches pricing, picking, invoicing and valuation together. It belongs in scope from the start, and leaving it out when it is not needed keeps the build considerably simpler.
What this page claims, and what it does not
This page describes capability. It sets out how TechCloudPro approaches oracle netsuite and erp work for food and beverage, and it does not assert a named client, a past project, a result or a metric in this sector. If a reference matters to your decision, ask for the current position directly and you will get a straight answer.
Written on traceability and shelf life in more depth
- NetSuite for Food and Beverage and What to Get Right FirstNetSuite for food and beverage, and what has to be right first. Lot traceability, shelf life, catch weight, co packing and a recall trace that holds up.
- Food Traceability Software and Recall ReadinessWhat food traceability software has to do before an incident. Lot chain integrity, mock recalls, who can put stock on hold, and records you cannot rebuild.
- Shelf Life Management ERP Rules That Stop Write OffsShelf life management ERP rules that work. Expiry driven allocation, minimum remaining shelf life, quality holds and short date reporting that stops write offs.
Questions food manufacturers ask first
- How fast should a recall trace be
- Fast enough that the trace is not what holds up the decision. The practical test is whether you can go from one lot number to every customer who received product containing it without leaving the system.
- Does NetSuite support expiry dates and first expiry first out
- Lot numbered inventory and expiry dating are core inventory features. The work is not switching them on. It is making the picking rules enforce them and deciding what happens when somebody needs to override.
- We use co packers. Does that change the build
- Yes. Components you own sit at a site you do not run, and the lot chain has to survive the handoff in both directions. That is a contractual data requirement as much as a configuration one.
- Has TechCloudPro done this for a food manufacturer
- This is described as a capability rather than a named reference. The traceability and shelf life design above is what the ERP practice covers. Ask for the current reference position directly.
The wider practice
- Oracle NetSuite and ERPCloud ERP end to end, from OneWorld multi subsidiary consolidation to SuiteCloud development against your own processes.
- Food and beverageShelf life, recall readiness and yield, in a business where the traceability record is a legal obligation.
